A gathering of motorcycles and people outside Middletown Elks Lodge 2179.

On Church Street in Belford, there is a lodge that earns five-star reviews not by accident but by genuine effort. Middletown Elks Lodge 2179 has built a reputation so strong that guests describe the staff as deserving a place in heaven, and that kind of praise comes from one thing: members who show up and do the work.

The lodge hosts a free special-needs Christmas party every year, complete with motorcycle riders who arrive as a surprise escort for the kids. That single event captures what the Elks are about at their core, charity that is hands-on, local, and personal. Beyond the holiday giving, members support veterans, scholarship students, and neighbors across the Middletown Township area in ways that rarely make headlines but always make a difference.

The banquet hall itself is spotless, well-maintained, and genuinely fun to be in. Families have celebrated 50th birthdays here, teenagers have danced at their Sweet Sixteen parties, and every review says the same thing about the staff: warm, helpful, and easy to work with. Rated 4.7 out of 5 across 85 reviews, this lodge is not coasting on tradition. It is earning that score every single event.
